My name is Karin Alexis, designer and owner of Karin Alexis Designs and the Karin Alexis boutique on the Upper West Side of New York City. Most importantly, I am a mother and that influences every decision I make. Six years ago, my boy, Bryant, was born. Like other new moms, I wanted to present Bryant to the world in clothes that were not only comfortable and warm, but also high quality, affordable, and unique as he is. What a frustrating search! I must have gone to twenty stores to look for interesting boys' clothes. Unless I wanted to dress Bryant in blue jeans or pastel-colored outfits there wasn't much that was interesting, really interesting. Girls' clothes were wanting too.
